Just Four More Weeks!

Hurray! Yippee! Well, when you finish reading this e-news you will probably have more exclamations to add!

•We are now just 4 weeks from opening the door to The House for the students of Prince William County. FOUR WEEKS!! The interior improvements have begun. We have divided the improvements in order to financially manage the process. Phase 1 is the entrance, coffee-snack bar, tables and chairs for that area, the reception desk, the floors in that area, men’s and women’s restrooms, janitors room, a/c-heat and the major wall that separates us from our neighbors. That’s a big order! And nearly $225,000!

•The space location has been changed and we are back to the building on the right as you face the buildings. That’s great news. We have better and more space, we don’t have to pay for the stairway, and we have a portion of the upstairs mezzanine.

•Todd and Ron and Helen have worked themselves out of some jobs. There are now too many tasks. The good news is that we can begin to delegate a whole lot more now. So, SAVE THE DATE this Saturday, October 1, 2005, and please come to our house. We will begin at 6:30pm and have your favorite desserts after our meeting—that is if you will bring your favorite dessert!

•Our agenda will include registration for: tutors, mentors, construction crew, housekeeping, and much more. We have been meeting with every official and ‘wanna-be’ official in our state that we can. The schools are beginning to work with us and by next week we should have students registered.

•Our major concern is that we are just about at the financial income to afford our deposit and first month's rent. But that’s not enough. We are beginning month three with no salaries and our house hasn’t sold in order to free up cash to finance the project as we had hoped. And we’ve sold about as much of our furniture as we can for now.

•Our major thank yous go to Roni Field and Neil Smith who have joined our yet unpaid staff. Thanks guys!

Well for now I’ll end this novel. The bar is now raised.

With love to our Dream Team.

New Leads and Opened Doors

Dear Friend:

I am so proud of you! In a society in which people dream of personal prosperity and 'success' it's incredible to have a team of people who dream about reaching others!

Let me just update you on the new leads and opened doors since we were last together. For it is by your financial, time and prayer support that Dreams are being restored! Tamela Dashiell is working through the paperwork on her desk to see that The House receives the best heavy duty office printer for all of our back to school and business needs for free! As well, Sharon Carroll's company, Premier Designs has made a contribution to the ministry.

Tomorrow, Thursday, September 8, will play a vital role to our soon to be after-school mentoring program. We will be meeting with the Secretary of Education at 1:30pm in Richmond to discuss The House's impact on the students in our community. We go in the power of your prayers.

I am so proud of you!
