Great Potomac News Piece on The House

The Potomac News has a great cover piece on today's Sunday edition.

The House is built on dreams.

Walking around the large room, Helen McCormick, president of The House, a nonprofit tutoring and mentoring program for teenagers, is quick to point out what might be there one day.

"Over there, we'd like to put a volleyball net," she says pointing to one end of the room in a warehouse on Golansky Boulevard in Woodbridge, between where soccer and basketball goals already stand.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

Be sure to get yourself a copy of the Potomac News on Sunday. They have ever so kindly begun a 5 article series on The House. As we understand it, you won't have a hard time finding it in the paper, either. What great publicity without it costing a single penney out of our budget.

SO DON'T FORGET TO PICK UP AN EXTRA COPY TO GIVE AWAY. It will be a great tool for letting people know more about what we do.

We have an additional basketball goal now and the computer lab should be electrified and networked by the weekend. That's a big deal. Our new volunteer electrician is doing all of the work for free. That's a savings of $3,000.

We have a new volunteer who will help Todd co-lead some of the events. His name is Demetrius Reeves. He is a young energetic man who commands the attention of our students really well. Thanks Demetrius for managing our 3 on 3 basketball tournament last Saturday. It was a great hit.

Thank you for bringing in water, juices, and sodas for the students.

If you stop by during the week you can meet our "Miss Lizzy". She is The Grandmother of The House. She walks every day to The House to help prepare afternoon lunches and feed the students and clean. She is an incredible servant of a lady.

We keep going from place to place seeing and revisiting people in the community and letting them know we are here. Keep us in your prayers. Roni Field is available and a key admin part of our team. We are so thankful for her and Neil Smith and the support they give.
